Safety Rules

Safety check

Like in all other types of races, participating in Silverrudder Challenge is at one’s own risk. The organizers – Svendborg Amatør Sejlklub - focus strongly on safety and responsible seamanship.

The ISAF International or National Racing Rules of Sailing does not acomply for Silverrudder - Challenge. Instead, we have chosen to govern the race under the International Regulations for Preventing Collissions at Sea.

The safety rules for The Silver Rudder are inspired by ISAF's Offshore Special Regulations, with special attention on Category 3, and Royal Western Yacht Club of Englands Notice of Race, regarding the race OSTAR – Original Singlehanded Transatlantic Race.

We encourage all participants to act reasonable, show respect and good seamanship and sailing etiquette, and to prepare as much as possible before the race.

We also recommend that you read Andrew Evans' book "Thoughts, Tips, Techniques & Tactics For Singlehanded Sailing", which can be downloaded here

Rules

Silverrudder Challenge is sailed by the navigational Rules for Preventing Collissions at Sea, both day and night.
